Ive been to Van Son at least half a dozen times now and have never been disappointed! Ive had their vermicelli bowl, their pho, fried rice and fried noodles. Reasonably priced and a welcoming clean restaurant. The service is always excellent and the servers are always friendly. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys great Vietnamese food!
My husband and I ordered from Van Son last night and overall it was a good experience. My husband had the grilled pork and pork spring rolls on vermicelli, which he said was very good. I had the vegetable noodle soup and the vegetarian spring rolls. The soup was amazing, lots of veggies and the broth was delicious. My only complaint was the vegetarian spring rolls... they were bland, flavorless, and the texture was really weird, as if they put mashed potato in them or something. I've honestly had better veggie spring rolls from the frozen aisle in Superstore. I was pretty disappointed, since spring rolls are usually my favorite part and I couldn't even finish one of these ones. Honestly though, everything else was great, just wouldn't recommend the vegetarian spring rolls.
I am a huge pho fan. I've dined at probably 50+ Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary and the surrounding area.Van Son has now made it to my top 5 for their Sate Peanut Beef Noodle soup. For those who like a heartier thicker broth with that amazing flavor from the sate beef, look no further. Ordering their small size will definitely leave you satisfied, the portion size feels like a large. My wife and I usually split the large and are satisfied if you're looking to go with someone else and save a penny. Some days the flavor of the pho changes slightly, maybe too much of one ingredient or another, however it remains relatively consistent and still worth getting every time I visit. Staff are friendly, and have now come to remember my name and my usual order which is very nice!Give it a visit if you're in the mood for some good pho.
I dont know why this place has such high ratings. The food isnt great. The meat doesnt have a good grilled/charbroiled flavour. The pho is also nothing to rave about. The other Vietnamese place over by rainbow falls is better than this one in my opinion.
My very most favorite place to visit for Vietnamese. Food is fantastic, value was fantastic, persons are fantastic, staff is fantastic, and did I mention that the food was fantastic?! Go and enjoy And then come back again and repeat!
